OUR COFFEE TRAINING LAB
The Small Batch Coffee Training Lab is located in the underground bank vault at our Seven Dials Store. Our lab and AST’s (Authorised Speciality Coffee Association Trainers) are fully equipped to train you or your baristas. We offer a range of courses to suit all your needs including Brewing and Barista Skills as well as How To Open your own Café.
We're a registered member of the Speciality coffee Association, and are accredited to run both the Barista and Brewing modules at all levels. See below for more detailed information on each course.

£115 ½ day (3 hours)
A basic, practical introduction to espresso and milk. Using an espresso machine and calibrating a grinder. Milk preparation: steaming and pouring. Basic equipment care and cleaning.
£130 ½ day (3 hours)
An introduction to basic Latte Art techniques. Perfecting your steaming technique. Using alternative milks such as soya, almond etc.
£500 2 days
Planning, executing and operating a coffee shop. Training, staffing and coffee knowledge. Financial planning and budgeting. Equipment, securing suppliers. Branding, marketing and communication.
£200 (+ £60 certification) 1 day (6 hours)
An introduction for the professional barista. Basic coffee knowledge, espresso preparation, hygiene and machine care. Counts toward SCA Coffee diploma.

2 days £400 (+ £100 certificate fee SCA members, £180 certificate fee non SCA members)
Builds on the foundation course to include more advanced espresso technique and theory sensory skills and more advanced milk techniques. Counts toward SCA Coffee diploma. Prior experience or training is necessary.
3 days £900 (+£180 fee SCA members, £270 certificate fee non members)
Builds on the intermediate course to include advanced techniques, scientific theory and managerial perspectives. Counts toward SCA Coffee diploma. Prior experience or training is necessary.
An introduction to brewing filter coffee for the professional barista. Introduces a beginner to different ways of brewing, from Chemex and siphon to clever dripper and cafetiere. Counts toward SCA Coffee diploma.
